On September 30, Ukraine’s Business Ombudsman Algirdas Semeta participated in the IX International investment forum “Tavrian Horizons 2016” in the city of Nova Kakhovka (Kherson Oblast) and on October 03 he met with business owners and the leadership of Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
At the International investment forum “Tavrian Horizons 2016” in Nova Kakhovka, Mr. Semeta spoke to participants about the ways in which the Business Ombudsman Council (BOC) can help improve the investment climate in the oblast. More than 300 individuals – foregn companies, investors, diplomats, state officials, and members of Ukraine’s business – participated in the form. The girst of the event was to spread information about Kherson Oblast as a reliable partner that is open for business.
On October 03, Mr. Semeta visited Zaporizhzhia, which is now the 18th oblast he has visited as part of his program of tours to Ukraine’s regions. So far, Zaporizhzhia ranks 7th in terms of the number of complaints received: the BOC has received 35 inquiries from this oblast and has successfully resolved 17 of them. The Ombudsman met with Zaporizhzhia Oblast Governor Ivan Bryl, where they discussed issues related to entrepreneurship that need to be resolved at the state level. Business Ombudsman also attended “Ukrgrafit” enterprise (leading Ukrainian manufacturer of graphite electrodes for metallurgical and machine-building industries) where he found out more about manufacturing process and discussed problematic issues of doing business with the management.
These visits to Kherson and Zaporizhzhia are part of the Business Ombudsman’s program of tours to the country’s regions, to enable Mr. Semeta to meet with local businesses and officials to discuss key problems that they encounter in doing business, and ways to improve the investment appeal of the region. He has already visited Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Odesa, Rivne, Volyn, Cherkassy, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Ternopil, Zakarpattia, Chernivtsi and Khmelnytsky Oblasts.
