Roman Waschuk
Roman Waschuk – retired Canadian diplomat, Business Ombudsman in Ukraine since January 1, 2022
He was born in Toronto (Ontario, Canada), where he graduated from the University of Toronto Schools and completed St. Nicholas Courses on Ukrainian Studies. He studied at the University of Toronto earning a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Central and Eastern European History.
Roman Waschuk joined the Foreign Service in 1987. In Ottawa, he worked in the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in the Eastern Europe, European Union, and Policy Planning Divisions, as well as on the Global Partnership, and the Stabilization and Reconstruction Task Force. In the latter position, he managed an annual budget of CAD 125 mn.
Abroad, he worked in the Political/Economic sections of Embassies in Moscow (1988-91), Kyiv (1994-98), and Berlin (2002-2007). Appointed Ambassador of Canada to Serbia in 2011, with concurrent accreditation to Northern Macedonia and Montenegro. Transferred to Kyiv in October 2014, where he served as Ambassador of Canada until October 2019. Co-organized the Conference on Reforms in Ukraine (Toronto, 2019).
Fluent or conversant in English, French, Ukrainian, German, Russian, Polish and Serbian.
Roman Waschuk was awarded the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada Medal and the Presidential Order of Merit – Third Class (Ukraine).
Tetiana Korotka
Tetiana Korotka, the Deputy Business Ombudsman was selected by the BOC’s Supervisory Board and appointed by the Government of Ukraine in 2015.
Ms. Korotka has over 20 years of experience working in governance and development across sectors, with a specific interest in inclusive growth and sustainable infrastructure development.
Before joining the Business Ombudsman Council, she worked as Deputy Chief of Party at the international Public-Private Partnership Development Program (2011-2015). Under her leadership, a multi-national team of experts helped the Government of Ukraine to create a legal basis for public investment management and sustainable infrastructure reform with private sector engagement. She initiated and led the PPP & Sustainable Infrastructure Expert Center at the American Chamber of Commerce.
Previously Tetiana has held various high management roles including Corporate Governance Director at PZU Insurance Group (2010-2011), Board member at ING Life (2008-2009), repeatedly advising in cooperation with the EU, the USA, Canada, Sweden and the World Bank to the Prime Minister's Office on the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement & FTA, National Bank of Ukraine and other state financial regulators on financial sector development (2009-2010).
Also, she was a Director of Financial Services Policy and Euro-Atlantic integration of the State Non-Banking Regulatory Authority (2004-2008), responsible for financial sector reforms and harmonization of Ukrainian legislation in accordance with European law. She was a permanent member of the state high-level Negotiating Group Ukraine - WTO, Ukraine - World Bank and IMF, Ukraine - EU.
Tetiana began her career as the Head of the Economic Department (CFO) at the State Nuclear Regulatory Committee. She was responsible for budgeting, risk management, and supervision of three state-owned enterprises (SOEs), managed internal controls, and international donor communication for the EBRD Chornobyl Shelter Fund (CSF) with a budget of 1.6 billion EUR, and played a role in legislative amendments aimed at promoting sustainable development in the energy sector, nuclear power plant decommissioning, and radioactive waste management in compliance with IAEA and EU standards (1999 – 2004).
Widely recognized for her efforts in Ukraine’s governance reform process, Tetiana was awarded by the President of the Italian Republic and became a Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy (Cavaliere dell'Ordine Della Stella d'Italia) for her contribution to the G7 Group of Ambassadors for Reform (2020), as well as awarded by the Prime-Minister of Ukraine for contribution to financial services market development and successful WTO accession (2009).
Tetiana Korotka earned her bachelor’s degree in Economics and master’s degree in Finance from the Kyiv National Economic University. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics, and her education includes post-graduate education at the London School of Economics and Political Science, an MBA from the Steinbeis-Hochschule-Berlin (Institute of International Business Relations).

Yuliia is an experienced lawyer and manager. She managed teams and corporate functions in law, corporate ethics and compliance, and corporate governance fields at large international companies in FMCG and building materials sectors, as well as at a large state-owned energy company.
Prior to her career in the corporate sector, she practiced law for a long time at a leading global law firm in the USA and Ukraine.
Yuliia got a law degree from the Lviv State University (1998) and John Marshall Law School (1999). She also earned an MBA degree from the London Business School (2013).

Andriy is an expert in the sphere of tax, administrative as well as criminal law and procedure. He also has valuable experience in drawing conclusions on legal issues in corporate and labor law.
Andriy joined the Business Ombudsman Council’s team after finishing his job at Sokolovskyi and Partners Law Firm, where he was senior legal counsel. At Sokolovskyi and Partners, his main professional activities were connected with counseling and representing entrepreneurs and private persons in their dealings with government, tax and custom authorities and their officials. Besides, Andriy, acting as an attorney, provided legal assistance in criminal proceedings and participated in resolving disputes with regulatory authorities.
In the Business Ombudsman Council, Andriy was involved in handling complaints of businesses against state authorities. Besides, Andriy is in charge of the preparation and conduct of expert groups with the Main Investigative Department of the National Police of Ukraine, General Prosecutor’s Office as well as State Tax Service of Ukraine. The most complicated and multi-episodic complaints against law enforcement and tax authorities, lodged with the Business Ombudsman’s Council are submitted for consideration within the framework of the expert groups.
Andriy is a graduate of Lviv National University, Master of Law, attorney at law since 2011. On 2022 Andriy successfully accomplished British Law Centre Course in English Law and Practical Legal Skills.

Mariia is an expert with 11 years of experience in representation of business interests in tax and customs disputes, as well as defense of business interests and officials in criminal proceedings and cases of administrative offenses. Mariia has experience in tax consulting and audit, as well as development of legislative initiatives on taxation matters.
Prior to joining the Business Ombudsman Council, Mariia worked as an attorney at KM Partners Attorneys at Law, which is one of the leading Ukrainian law firms in tax area.
Mariia is also a certified Attorney at Law. She graduated from the Faculty of Law at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, where she obtained the Specialist’s Degree in Law, and received a Master’s Degree in Law from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

He joined our team from Tax & Legal department of Deloitte, where he had worked for over 8 years.
In the Council, he is a member of the Expert Group on tax issues.
Volodymyr graduated from National Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv with Master’s Degree in Law.
Yuliia Mykhailiuk

Yuliia specializes in tax administration and compliance, regulatory policy, legal support of administrative disputes. She has experience working on public sector reforms, including the development of legislative initiatives and implementation thereof.
Prior to joining the Business Ombudsman Council in 2017, Yuliia worked for the Tax Litigation Department at PwC as well as Corporate Department at Chadbourne and Parke LLP's Kyiv office.
Yulia has two higher educations: she holds a Master's Degree in Law of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (with honours), and additionally obtained a Master's Degree in Accounting and Taxation at Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman (with honours). As an Erasmus Mundus Fellow, in 2012-2013 Yuliia also studied at the Law Department of Mykolas Romeris University in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Maryna has 10 years of professional experience in the area of civil, commercial and administrative litigation.
She joined our team after multinational firm PwC. Before that, Maryna had been working in Spenser&Kauffmann and UkrJurService law firms. Her litigation portfolio includes support of resolving disputes in the realm of property/contracts, competition, tax compliance, defamation, corporate compliance, labor and family, as well as international arbitration and mediation.
Maryna is a certified Attorney at Law. She is a co-author of an educational handbook “Passing the Bar Exam”.
Holds Master’s Degree in Law from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

Nataliia's area of expertise includes comprehensive legal due diligence of business entities, regulatory issues of business, as well as all legal aspects of cooperation with government bodies, particularly assets protection against raider attacks, public procurement and property relations between business and the state.
Nataliia joined the Business Ombudsman Council team in 2022, earlier had private law practice, during which she specialized in litigation of commercial, civil and administrative disputes, as well as representing clients in the European Court of Human Rights.
In 2015, Nataliia got a master's degree as an International Lawyer from Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and additionally, thanks to active student research, received a qualification of "Junior Researcher in International Law". A year earlier, Nataliia graduated from Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar"(Bulgaria) and earned a master's degree in International Law and Security.

Stepan has experience in international corporate law, focusing on legal support of businesses in different jurisdictions, including venture businesses, with deep insights into contract lifecycle management and global compliance.
Prior to joining the Business Ombudsman Council team in 2021, Stepan had been working for 3 years as a Legal Counsel at LegalTech Services. Prior to that, he was engaged in human rights initiatives.
Stepan has a master’s degree in International Law from Mykolas Romeris University (Lithuania) and another master’s degree in Law from the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University (Ukraine). During his studies in Lithuania, he also studied at Tilburg University (the Netherlands) and at the University of Lisbon (Portugal) via a student exchange.

For over 4 years, Maksym represented the interests of some of the largest ports and terminals in Ukraine, such as Group of companies "TIS" and LLC "IGT". He also has expertise in the following economic sectors: agribusiness, transport and infrastructure, ports and terminals. Maksim has extensive experience in representing legal services in practices such as tax and commercial dispute resolution and transfer pricing.
Before joining the BOC team, Maksym worked as an attorney at the Law firm “Jurline”, which is one of the legal market leaders of the Southern region of Ukraine and is ranked in the Legal 500 EMEA, Legal 50.
In 2017, Maksym graduated from the Faculty of International Legal Relations of NU "Odessa Law Academy" with Master’s Degree in Law.

Nataliia has 4 years of professional experience in tax, labour, commercial and corporate law.
Natalia joined the team of the Business Ombudsman Council from the International Tax Planning Department of EY Ukraine consulting company, where for 2 years she was involved in providing tax advice to international groups of companies - representatives of different business areas: from agriculture and IT-sphere to film production and banking.
Earlier Natalia worked at ILF law firm for 2 years, where she was more involved in advising medical institutions on various legal issues arising within medical reform.
She obtained LLM degree at Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, The Criminal Justice and Prosecutors’ Training Institute.

Andrii specializes in dispute resolution. He has experience in commercial, corporate and civil law.
Before Andrii joined the Business Ombudsman Council team, Andrii had been working at Evris Law Firm for three years. In November 2019, he commenced hs work in the BOC as a Junior Investigator, and since August 2021 he has been working as an Investigator.
He received the Master's degree in Law from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Faculty of Law.

Before joining our team, Kyryl worked in tax and legal department of Deloitte for over 7 years focusing on tax dispute resolution.
In 2006, he graduated from National Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv with Master’s Degree in Law.

Oleksiy has over 13 years of experience in criminal and administrative law and procedure, tax and customs legislation.
Before joining the BOC team, Oleksiy worked as a lawyer and senior advisor at KM Partners Law Firm for over 7 years. Oleksiy's main specialization as a lawyer was to provide legal protection within economic crimes criminal proceedings, particularly tax evasion, administrative offenses, customs rules violations, as well as resolving disputes involving tax, customs, local government and other public authorities.
At the Business Ombudsman Council, Oleksiy is responsible for cooperation with the Prosecutor General's Office, NABU and is a co-author of the Council's four systemic reports, particularly a systemic report "Abuse of Power by Law Enforcement Bodies in Their Relations with Business." He is also the author of a number of publications on taxation, criminal law and procedure.
Oleksiy has been a certified lawyer since 2011. He is a graduate of Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman holding a Master’s Degree in Law and specializing in legal regulation of economics. In 2020-2021, Oleksiy also studied at the Department of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland.

Prior to working in the Business Ombudsman Council, for over 7 years Olena was a consultant on various employment and corporate matters. She also participated in the projects related to public policy reforming.
She joined the team of Business Ombudsman Council after PwC Ukraine, where she had been working for almost 6 years. Apart from that, Olena was also working at outsourcing company TMF Group. She was involved in different projects related to corporate debt restructuring, setting up a business in Ukraine and choosing the appropriate business model, including advising on complicated corporate governance structures, employment and liquidation procedures.
Olena is a certified Attorney at Law. She holds Specialist’s Degree in Law from National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” and Master’s Degree in Law from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

Roman has a total of over nine years of experience in construction industry and two years in energy sector.
Roman is a graduate of the National Technical University of Ukraine "Ihor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" (NTUU KPI).
Dmytro Polyanskyi

Dmytro has over 16 years of experience in legal practice in leading international and national companies, managing a law office, working as a government relations manager at Naftogaz Group, and teaching legal disciplines at one of Ukraine's leading universities.
He has successful experience in supporting international companies M&A processes, issuance process, supporting the current activities of enterprises with a foreign element, as well as bringing a number of holding companies to the Ukrainian market. He was engaged in protection of clients' interests in criminal cases and their representation in civil and commercial disputes.
Prior to the Business Ombudsman Council, Dmytro was a consultant to the Reform Support Team under the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, where he participated in developing laws and by-laws aimed at implementing corporate governance reform in Ukraine, the Law of Ukraine "On Privatization of State and Communal Property", the Law of Ukraine "On Leasing of State and Communal Property", participated in developing Ukraine's Recovery Plan.
Dmytro earned a Master's degree in Law with honors from the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and an MBA degree from MIM Business school (MIM-KYIV).

Earlier Iryna worked in a leading national organic products boutique, where she advanced from a salesperson to a boutique manager and a foreign economic procurement manager. She gained valuable experience in holding marketing campaigns, writing and editing communication materials, as well as in negotiating with suppliers, analyzing the market and ensuring effective procurement conditions.
Iryna received a law degree from the Kyiv National Linguistic University (KNLU).

Prior to joining the Business Ombudsman Council in May 2022, Tamara worked in the IT field, where she gained significant experience in business process management, HR strategy development, teamwork organisation and modern project management tools implementation. She also worked on the business processes formalisation and strategic planning. Her expertise includes teams coordination, policy development, conducting trainings and innovation implementation.
She has two higher educations: she earned a specialist degree in technical translation at the Transport and Information Technologies Department of the National Transport University (NTU) and a bachelor's degree in finance and credit from the National Academy of Statistics, Accounting and Auditing (NASOA).

Olha received a Master's degree in Foreign Philology and Translation at the Kherson State University.
