Vacancy: Lawyer (Investigator)

The Business Ombudsman Council is looking for candidates for the position of Lawyer (Investigator).

Key requirements:

  • Law degree from a reputable university
  • High ethical standards
  • At least five years of relevant work experience in at least one of the following areas: tax, customs and/or criminal procedural law
  • Experience in protecting business entities’ interests in the pre-trial appeal of state bodies’ decisions and/or in court
  • Analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex legal, commercial and financial information
  • Extensive experience in drafting legal documents (legal opinions, procedural documents, protocols, etc.)
  • Ability to independently manage one’s own workload, delegate tasks and give constructive feedback
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Fluent Ukrainian (oral and written)
  • English proficiency (C1-C2)
  • Work experience in international law and consulting firms, project management experience in legal consulting, experience in interacting with BOC stakeholders will be an advantage

Key job responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and consider individual business complaints about violations of their rights by public authorities
  • Analyze laws, by-laws, case-law, etc.
  • Analyze documentation provided by complainants
  • Draft letters, legal opinions, other documents;
  • Liaise with complainants, state bodies and local self-governments within complaint’s issues;
  • Participate in the administrative appeal procedure and Expert Groups with state bodies;
  • Prepare systemic reports and reports based on own-initiative investigations results.
