The Government approves the appointment of Anka Feldhusen as Business Ombudsman

Today, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the decision of the BOC Supervisory Board to appoint Anka Feldhusen as the new Business Ombudsman in Ukraine.

Ms. Feldhusen will take up her new position in Kyiv on February 1, 2026.

Anka Feldhusen is a German diplomat with over thirty years of experience in the German Federal Foreign Office. In 2019–2023, she headed the German Embassy in Ukraine, playing a key role in the development of German-Ukrainian relations and attracting German investors to Ukraine. She managed the embassy during the evacuation and restructuring the diplomatic mission after the outbreak of the full-scale russian invasion in February 2022. 

She has significant experience in diplomatic work in Ukraine: in 2010–2015 she was Deputy Head of the Mission in Kyiv, and in 1994–1997 she headed Press and Protocol Section of the embassy.

From 2016 to 2019, Anka Feldhusen served as Head of Division in the Federal President’s Office. From 2015 to 2016, she headed the Division East Africa, Horn of Africa and Sudan at the Federal Foreign Office. From 2002 to 2005, she was Deputy Head of Mission in Havana, Cuba.

Anka speaks German (native), English, Ukrainian, French, as well as Spanish and Russian.

Anka Feldhusen noted: “It is a great honor for me to return to Ukraine as an advocate for the rights of entrepreneurs, whose resilience and determination support the country’s economy and defence capability in these tough times. I believe that working to eliminate barriers and unfair practices by government bodies is the basis for business development and attracting investors, despite the ongoing full-scale war. Drawing on my long-term knowledge of Ukraine and its people, I will continue the Council’s work to promote systemic changes to bring the Ukrainian economy closer to European norms and practices.”

Arvid Tuerkner, the EBRD Managing Director for Ukraine and Moldova and Chair of the Business Ombudsman Council Supervisory Board, said: “The appointment of Anka Feldhusen as Business Ombudsman is the result of a careful selection process. I am pleased to welcome her to the position. Ms. Feldhusen ’s many years of diplomatic experience, in-depth knowledge of Ukraine and ability to work under crisis conditions will be a significant contribution to the institution’s further development and the protection of legitimate rights of businesses. At the same time, I am grateful to Mr. Waschuk for these four years of fruitful cooperation and strengthening of the Business Ombudsman institution, serving an example to be followed in other countries of the Eastern European region.”
