The Business Ombudsman Roman Waschuk and Head of the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine (Restoration Agency) Serhii Sukhomlyn signed a Memorandum of Partnership and Cooperation. Signing of the document marks a new stage in developing cooperation and expanding interaction between institutions to smoothly engage the private sector in reconstruction projects.
The Memorandum, which the Council first concluded with the Restoration Agency in early 2023, aims to strengthen cooperation of the BOC with the State Agency for Restoration to provide for transparency and create favourable conditions for business in implementing infrastructure reconstruction projects.
“Consolidating efforts with key stakeholders in reconstruction process opens up horizons for a thorough recovery today. This is what our Memorandum with the Restoration Agency is about, with which the Business Ombudsman Council seeks to develop a sustainable and long-term partnership. We are ready to support the Agency in developing initiatives that can facilitate private sector participation in the recovery process,” said Business Ombudsman Roman Waschuk.
“Implementing infrastructure projects needs not only financing, but also clear cooperation mechanisms. Jointly with the Business Ombudsman Council, we will work to eliminate barriers and make the reconstruction process as effective as possible, and most importantly, transparent,” said Serhii Sukhomlyn, Head of the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine.
Under the Memorandum, the parties agreed on expanded cooperation in implementing state policy to fulfill Ukraine’s infrastructure restoration and reconstruction projects/measures. The Council will provide the Agency with recommendations on eliminating systemic problems in recovery area and will further exchange experience to reduce regulatory barriers and engage business in restoration projects. Cooperation will be supported by the Policy & Recovery team under the supervision of the Deputy Business Ombudsman Tetiana Korotka.
