The Business Ombudsman Council welcomes the decision of the Government of Ukraine to appoint Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi as Director of the Bureau of Economic Security (BEB). This is an important and long-awaited step towards the reboot of the Bureau and the strengthening of its institutional capacity.
Along with the restoration of the independence of NABU and SAPO, the appointment of the head of BEB, who was selected by the competition commission, demonstrates the will of the renewed Government to respond to the demands of society, the business community, and international partners.
The Business Ombudsman Council expects that the Bureau will now focus its activities on implementing its analytical function and investigating significant economic crimes.
The Business Ombudsman Council is ready to share with the new BEB leadership its decade-long experience in the field of business–state relations. Establishing an open dialogue between BEB and the business community and the public, as well as the re-certification of staff, are the next steps towards an effective reform of the Bureau.
